Class 4 Licence (Incl 24089)

By being the holder of a full Class 4 licence, you will be able to drive any heavy rigid vehicle that is capable of carrying loads and weighing beyond 18,000 kgs. The Class 4 training course includes two days theory training in class and up to four hours on road training and assessment. Participants will complete unit standards 17576 and 24089 which will also be registered onto the NZQA framework. If unit standard 24089 has already been completed, then the theory training component can be reduced to one day.

Description

By holding this licence you will be able to drive any heavy rigid vehicle that weighs over 18,000kgs when fully loaded. You will also be able to drive combination vehicles, where the rigid vehicle weighs over 18,000kgs fully loaded and is towing a light trailer. It also covers vehicles covered in Class 1 and Class 2 but not Class 3.

A Class 2 licence is the first stepping stone for those who wish to drive heavy vehicles in the Road Transport Industry. To be eligible for a Class 2 licence, a full Class 1 licence must be held for six months or more. The Class 2 training course requires applicants to have a Class 2 learner licence, although we can also assist with training towards this. (Check out our Learner Licence course!). A medical check up is required to gain this licence.

The Class 5 training course includes two days theory training in class and up to four hours on road training and assessment. Participants will complete unit standards 17577 and 24089 which will also be registered onto the NZQA framework. If unit standard 24089 has already been completed, then the theory training component can be reduced to one day.
