Wheels tracks and rollers (W,T,R)

By completing this course you will be able to drive special type vehicles (excluding forklifts) on the road. This includes vehicles that run on rollers, (as covered by the R Endorsement), vehicles on self-laying tracks (T Endorsement) and wheeled special type vehicles excluding forklifts (W Endorsement). The course runs for half a day. It includes a theory session at the beginning, and a practical session later on. The course covers the basic use of these vehicles.

Description

By holding these endorsements you will be able to drive special type vehicles on the road, excluding forklifts. As a road is by definition anywhere the public have access to, by right or not, these endorsements are needed when driving the special type vehicles in places such as beaches and parks. To drive these special type vehicles on the road, the correct class of licence is required based on the weight of the vehicle.

When driving a special type vehicle that runs on rollers or self-laying tracks on a Class 1 licence the vehicle must not weigh more than 18000kgs when fully loaded. With a Class 2 licence you may exceed this weight limit.

When driving a special type vehicle that runs on wheels slower than 30 km/h on a Class 1 licence the vehicle must not weigh more than 18000kgs when fully loaded. With a Class 2 licence you may exceed this weight limit.

When driving a special type vehicle that runs on wheels faster than 30km/h on a Class 1 licence the vehicle must not weigh more than 6000kgs when fully loaded. With a Class 2 licence it must not weigh more than 18000kgs and with a Class 4 licence you may exceed this weight limit.

This course is aimed at those who wish to drive special type vehicles that aren’t forklifts on the road. To apply for these endorsements only a full Class 1 licence is required.
